What happens when you pair a veteran DJ/Producer and a veteran MC? You get prime, top notch Hip Hop music. PRhyme, is the new duo comprised of DJ Premier and Royce Da 5’9. Last week they released “Courtesy,” the first single off their full-length collaborative project. Today they released visuals for their single “U Looz.”
The song is filled with DJ scratches, guitar riffs, horn samples and other familiar elements of Golden Era Hip Hop. The video is filled with an array of symbols that represent Hip Hop in its purest form: record store, vinyl, turntables, etc.
“The inspiration and thought behind the video was to let everyone know who was involved creatively in this project. That’s why you only see Royce, Preem and Adrian Younge. The record store and turntables symbolize the foundation in which the music is built on,” Premier states.
PRhyme’s self-titled album drops December 9th and features Common, Jay Electronia, Schoolboy Q, Mac Miller, Killer Mike and Ab-Soul.
