You’d be a fool to overlook the Midwest when it comes to music. Looking to be next up out of Chicago, Nick Kingz, proves that he’s worthy of your ears with his debut mixtape, “Let Me Speak.” With crossover appeal, Kingz tackles an array of radio ready production. The 7-track mixtape boasts futuristic sounds, mixed with hefty drums and melodic hooks. The mixtape, however, opens up with a freestyle from Kingz over a familiar 90’s R&B hit. On “Let Me Speak Freestyle,” Kingz unleashes his raps over Usher’s “U Make Me Wanna.” The freestyle then segues into the project’s second track with its only guest feature. “LML” features Javy who rides the bouncy production with the same amount of ease as Kingz.

Overall, the Chicago upstart delivers a cohesive project that whets our appetite and grabs our attention. Curious to hear what more he can offer in his budding career. Listen to “Let Me Speak” below.
