A couple weeks ago, Rémy Martin hosted the second qualifying round of their Rémy Martin Presents “The Producers Series,” Season 2. With the weather heating up, the event took place inside; this time at Tao Downtown. The Breakfast Club’s own, Charlamagne Tha God – who is an ambassador for the fine cognac brand – hosted the evening along with DJ Rey-Mo. The event kicked off with Wyclef breaking down one of his most famous records, “Killing Me Softly” featuring Lauryn Hill. ‘Clef delved into his creative process while producing the classic single. He also played his bass guitar as DJ Reymo spun some tunes.

Throughout his performance, ‘Clef took it upon himself to drop some knowledge and wisdom to the aspiring producers in the competition. With a successful career that has spanned 25+ years, it’s safe to say that he had A LOT to share. Before the competition commenced, the veteran artist gave an impromptu show to warm the crowd up. In this qualifying round, it was battle of the beats between up and coming producers, JL Beats, Point 1 and Rizz Beatz. And for the first time in the series, a tiebreaker was needed to determine the winner. Wyclef, along with the other judges, chose Point 1, who will now move on to the September finale.

Wyclef was so impressed by Point 1’s beat that he offered to buy it from him! Now, that’s what it’s all about!

But prior to the competition, Maria Myraine joined Wyclef on the stage for an on-the-spot interview. With only a short amount of time to get a few questions off, check out the event recap video with interview below! Video recorded and edited by Blake Symphony.
