As someone who’s contemplated – and nearly attempted – suicide once, it’s of vital importance to shed light on mental illness. And, of course, provide people with the necessary help. On his latest single, Logic, takes on the uneasy topic of suicide with the help of singers, Alessia Cara and Khalid. The title of the record – a cut off his new project “Everybody” – is actually the number to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
Logic has always been phenomenal at shedding light on issues in his music, while still making it “cool” enough for his fans. Last year, the New York Times reported that the US suicide rate surged to a 30-year high – lifting the rate to 13 per 100,000 people, the highest it has been since 1986. So yes, let’s make discussing mental illness and understanding it cool so we can help those who suffer from it.
“I made this song for all of you who are in a dark place and can’t seem to find the light.”
Thank you, Logic.
