I first heard of KeithCharles Spacebar while writing for Brooklyn Bodega (the curators of the annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival) back in 2011. Mr. Spacebar had just released his “Before Common Era” album and I was pleasantly surprised by its quality. From his smooth delivery, classic flow and superb selection of Golden Era inspired beats, “BCE” was what made me a fan. You can read my initial review of the project here.

Fast-forward four years later, Spacebar released some NEW-NEW in time for the new year – and I couldn’t be more ecstatic. “Me in Heaven* / Me in Hell^” is typical Spacebar but his growth as an artist is undeniably apparent in his subject matter and now, seasoned flow. I also enjoyed the blend of beats he chose for the project as it really diversifies his sound. He describes the project as “experimental electronica hip hop soul” and I couldn’t agree more with the adjectives who chose. Never straying from who he is as an artist and the sound he has grown to hone over time, KeithCharles Spacebar starts the new year off on the right note, literally.
