I’m a sucker for Hip Hop instrumentals – especially GOOD ones.
While browsing the World Wide Web for new sounds to fill my iPod playlist with, I came across Harris Cole‘s BandCamp profile. His “The High Tape” beat tape (released by BLVNT RECORDS) first caught my eye, thanks to his cover art (pictured below). Having learned to not “judge a book by its cover,” I press played. To my surprise, Harris Cole delivered from start to finish.
His production reminds me of one of my favorite up & coming producers, Soul Chef. Heavy use of soulful samples, classic kicks and snares that once strictly infiltrated Hip Hop in the 90’s always win me over.
